What does it mean to keep a Zero Inbox?

The ‘zero inbox’ is an approach to email management that aims to keep an inbox empty, or almost empty, at all times. The focus is on understanding how many emails you have yet to answer by actioning the following:

  • Responding immediately
  • Delegate or forward right away
  • Flag to action later?

Why would you want to see all unread emails only?

You may work in an environment where you receive hundreds or even thousands of emails each day.
You may not read all the emails each day. However, you need to understand what you have remaining and what has come in as new.
