IMOS On-Prem - Evaluating Options

In Cargo Matching, you can use any of these methods to create Estimates to analyze cargo/vessel matches:

When you designate an Estimate as Intended, it appears on the Vessel Schedule  and Cargo Schedule  as color-coded Estimate bars.

Tutorial: Using Cargo Matching

Dragging and Dropping a Cargo

Dragging and dropping is the fastest way to create an Intended Estimate. From the Cargo Schedule, drag a cargo to the Vessel Schedule and drop it on the vessel row. The Intended Estimate appears in the Vessel Schedule and is added to both the Cargo and Vessel Position Worksheets.

Finding the Best Cargo

To find the best cargo for the vessel, in the Vessel Schedule, right-click the vessel and click Find Best Cargo. The Best Estimate List appears, with the best options of all the cargoes.

Viewing the Last Five Cargoes

To make sure that the next planned cargo is compatible, you can see the last five cargoes loaded by the vessel by adding the Last 5 Cargoes column to the Vessel Position List. You can join this column in via the Vessel table in the Report Designer.

Finding the Best Vessel

To find the best vessel for the cargo, in the row for a cargo in the Cargo List, or on the bar for a cargo in the Cargo Schedule, right-click and click Find Best Vessel. The Best Estimate List appears, with the best options of all the vessels.

Matching the Best Vessel

To match the best vessel for the cargo, in the row for a cargo in the Cargo List, or on the bar for a cargo in the Cargo Schedule, right-click and click Match Best Vessel. An Estimate Worksheet is created, with an Estimate for the vessel with the highest profit that can meet the cargo laycan. The Estimate for that vessel appears on the Vessel Schedule. If no vessel can meet the cargo laycan, a message appears.

  • Configuration flag CFGBlockMatchBestVesselOnAlert prevents a match if it would trigger an error Alert. If a match is prevented, the event is logged for troubleshooting.

Creating Worksheets

To create an Estimate Worksheet, do one of the following:

  • On the Vessel Schedule, right-click the vessel and then click Next Position Worksheet.
  • On the Cargo List or the Cargo Schedule, right-click the row for a Cargo and then click Cargo Worksheet.

Finding Additional Information

TCE

As soon as you create, modify, or remove an Estimate, you can see its impact on profitability and cost.

To see the TCE for the current Scenario (the time-weighted average TCE for all Estimates in the scenario), look at the right end of the toolbar:

To see more details for the Scenario, including the impact on the use of time and resources, click the arrow.

Scenario Summary Report

To evaluate the performance of individual or groups of voyages and Voyage Estimates, create a Scenario Summary Report:

  1. Select individual or multiple voyages and/or Voyage Estimates. Selected voyages and Estimates are highlighted with a bold outline, and selections are maintained if you scroll or zoom.
    • To select or clear an individual voyage or Estimate, click it.
    • To select a range of voyages and/or Estimates in the same vessel row, hold down Shift while you click the first and last.
    • To select or clear nonconsecutive voyages or Estimates, hold down Ctrl while you click.
    • To clear all selections, click off the chart; selections are also cleared if you change filter settings, views, or programs.
  2. Right-click the selection and then click Scenario Summary. The Scenario Summary Report provides details of each voyage and Estimate selected: Vessel and Voyage Number, Days and Quantity with Totals and Averages, Status, and Total and Per Day values for Net Revenue, Bunker Expenses, Daily Vessel Cost, Other Expenses, Profit, and TCE.
  3. To evaluate alternative scheduling scenarios, compare reports for different selection groups.

Row Details

To view details that pop up for a row in the Vessel Position List or Cargo List, right-click the row and click Row Details. For User-Defined Fields, you might have the option to add or edit values.

Collaboration Features

You can work with your team members to find the best options. The following Cargo Matching collaboration features are updated immediately:

  • The Cargo Matching toolbar displays the initials of all users who are currently online and looking at the program.
  • The Worksheets List shows all worksheets that:
    • Are currently open; mouse over the Online count to see the initials of the team members who have one open.
    • Have their Status flagged with green, yellow, or red; mouse over the Status to see the Description.

Worksheets have additional collaboration features.

Adjusting Options

Adjust cargoes and vessels to find the best options and to respond to changes. Voyage events that are recorded in Operations, such as vessel ETAs, are automatically updated in your Cargo Matching programs. If circumstances affect your program, such as a voyage departure time changing, a message appears.

To edit all Estimates at once, type Ctrl + Enter.

 Related Configuration Flags
CFGBlockMatchBestVesselOnAlert

When enabled, the Match Best Vessel feature in IMOS Cargo Matching will never match a vessel to a cargo if the resulting Voyage Estimate would have an alert under the rules specified in Tasks and Alerts.
