IMOS - Berth Management Activity

Home > Berth Scheduling > Berth Management Activity

Requires the Berth Scheduling module. Configuration flag CFGEnableBerthMgmtActivities must be enabled, and you must have the Berth Management Activity List and Berth Management Activity Module Rights selected, under Ports and Areas in the Data Center.

The Berth Management Activity workspace enables you to set default durations for berth-level Port Activities. Estimated activity times appear on the Berth Management form and can be adjusted and actualized from the Berth Schedule.

Berth Management Activity includes:

Berth Mgmt Activity Details Rules

Berth Mgmt Activity Details Rules define Conditions, under which durations for berth-level Port Activities are set to default values in the Berth Schedule. These rules are similar to Task & Alert, Pricing, and other rules in the Veson IMOS Platform.

Creating a Rule

To create a new rule, do either of the following:

  • On the Berth Management Activity List, click +.

  • On the Data Center secondary menu (), under Ports and Areas, click Berth Management.

Editing a Rule

To edit an existing rule, on the Berth Management Activity List, click its row. The Berth Mgmt Activity Details Rule form appears.

Defining a Rule

To define a rule, on the Berth Mgmt Activity Details Rule form:

  1. Enter a Name and a Description.

  2. Under Use this rule if, add Conditions and/or Groups of Conditions.
Each Condition consists of a Variable, an Operator, and a Value, for example, Use this rule if X = Y.
Groups of Conditions are evaluated together, like a part of a formula enclosed in parentheses, for example, Use this rule if (X = Y or X = Z).

    1. For each Condition, select the following:

      • Variable: Determines the Operators and Values available. The following Variables are available:

        • Berth

        • Cargo Grade

        • Cargo Group

        • Port

      • Operator

      • Value

    2. To add, insert, or delete Conditions or Groups, do one of the following:

      • Click ... to the right of Conditions/Groups and then click Add ConditionInsert ConditionAdd GroupInsert Group, or Delete Condition.

      • Click Add Condition or Add Group under the list of Conditions.

    3. A new Condition or Group is added to the previous one; to change from and to or, click and to the left of the condition and then click or. To change back, click or and then click and.

    4. Conditions will be read in sequence. To change the sequence of Conditions or Groups, click ... to the right of Conditions/Groups and then click Move Condition Up, Move Condition DownMove Group Up, or Move Group Down.

    5. To stop processing when a rule is true, select Stop processing if true. Otherwise, the entire table will be read to find all true rules. The results from rules evaluating to true will be stored on the contract as saved values.

  3. Enter the Results, which can be for any Port Activity defined in Berth Scheduling setup, Load Rate, or Discharge Rate. Each line in the Results grid consists of an Activity, a Default Value, and a Unit.

Berth Management Activity List

The Berth Management Activity List contains all Berth Mgmt Activity Details Rules defined in your IMOS environment.

To access the list, on the Data Center secondary menu (), under Ports and Areas, click List next to Berth Management.

Enable Berth Mgmt Activities
CFGEnableBerthMgmtActivities

When enabled, additional port activity-linked columns are available in the Berth Management form, for use with the Berth Schedule. Users can enter estimated times for Inspection, Purging, hose Connection, Pumping, hose Disconnection, and Extra Hours. When actual Port Activities are entered for these items, the estimated times will be overwritten with the actual times.

The Berth ETA automatically updates to reflect any changes to the Port ETA.

Allow ETA Update to Berth Management

CFGAllowETAUpdateToBerthManagement

When enabled along with CFGEnableBerthMgmtActivities, the port ETA changes will update the Berth Management ETA for allocated bookings. This flag doesn't affect port ETA to berth ETA update behavior on unallocated bookings. When disabled, port ETA updates will not update the berth ETA for an allocated booking.
