Some charterers have signed up to report to the Sea Cargo Charter on their share of emissions generated for voyages they charter. This workflow enables carriers to send the bunker consumption information relevant to the charterer’s portion of any voyage, including relevant CO2 factors, enabling emissions output calculations. Charterers can then use various options to report on that data.

Once the voyage is complete, you should follow the steps to submit the data to the charterer.

  1. Select the data submission link provided by the charterer and log in to IMOS X. The SCC Voyage Emissions form opens and shows your charterer as the recipient.

    1. If no form opens, select Compose, enter your charterer in the To field, and select SCC Voyage Emissions as the form type.

  2. At the top of the form, provide the following information:

    1. Enter any SCC Counterparty Reference that your charterer may be expecting.

    2. Select a vessel.

    3. Select an SCC voyage type.

  3. To enter your itinerary, do one of the following:

    1. Enter the itinerary manually.

    2. Select Import Itinerary to import your vessel’s itinerary over a period of time based on AIS data. Adjust the dates and re-import the itinerary if needed. The SCC expects the ballast leg prior to load to be included in this itinerary, so be sure to go far enough back in the date selection to get include that included.

  4. Once you enter the itinerary data, expand each leg and do the following:

    1. Check all the itinerary information for accuracy.

    2. Enter the distance between the ports.

  1. Select the Map tab to review the route. Review the map and validate that you’ve got pulled in the right itinerary pulled in.

  1. When you’re happy with the data entered, select Send in the lower-right corner of the form. If you’ve chosen to bypass data validation, you will be warned about that. You can choose to review again or go ahead and submit the data as-is.

  2. The form is sent to your charterer’s inbox for approval and further processing.

Tips & Tricks

CFGUseVoyageEmissionsFuelTypes should be set to Y in most cases. When setting this flag to N, upon approving an SCC form, the system tries to check checks that the fuel types used on the SCC form match those on the voyage the form is trying to update. This is unlikely to succeed, as various fuel type names are often used. Setting this to Y allows the form to update the voyage regardless of whether the fuel types match.

Remember that you can always ignore the fuel consumption and distance validation. We hope that it helps get the data entered correctly, but it does not prevent you from submitting or approving a form.

The form’s title is editable, but the system does not save the change.

If you include a comment longer than a few words in the form before using the Copy Form Link functionality, it likely will not be able to be included in the form link. A message informs you, and you can copy/paste that comment into whatever communication you’re using to send the form link.

Standard SCC fuel types and CO2 factors are used. CO2 factors can be edited.

Some standard SCC fuel types are not yet available for use in this form but will be in the future: VLSFOHighVisc, VLSFOLowVisc, Methanol, Ethanol, and Ammonia.

Once an emissions message is approved, it immediately disappears from the current Inbox view as the Inbox it is filtered by status. Approving the form moves it from status Pending to Approved. If you need to find that form again, switch the Inbox status filter to Approved.

There are some errors you can ignore and some you cannot. It’s tough to tell the difference until you click Send (carrier) or Approve (charterer). Validation of values within ranges can be ignored, but required fields cannot be ignored.

When approving an emissions message, any data previously shown in Voyage Manager > Sustainability > Emissions Data is wiped out and replaced with this new data.

Remember that in-port fuel consumption does not currently have any validation against the values entered; only at-sea consumption is checked.
